CENTARA GRAND PHRATAMNAK RESORT PATAYA, due to open in October, has recruited a professional aquarium specialist for a six-month period to take care of the giant marine life feature that will form such a distinctive part of the hotel lobby.

Two big aquariums, one themed as a predator tank with blacktip sharks, stingrays and big groupers and the other as a coral reef with exotic species such as angel fish and butterfly fish, will be illuminated with special lighting to impart an underwater world ambience to the ground floor areas.

Patricia Campos Salaberri, who is from Spain, studied aquaculture production at the Instituto Gallego de Formacion en Acuicultura (IGAFA) in Pontevedra.
She has been involved in a number of projects that have included the opening of Oceanografico Aquarium of Valencia, which is the biggest aquarium in Europe, and the opening of Turkuazoo in Istanbul, the first giant aquarium in Turkey. She has also collected and supplied new species for many aquariums in Spain, and captured shark in San Francisco Bay for the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Patricia holds a PADI advanced diving licence, and a coastal skipper certificate.
Dominique Ronge, general manager of the five-star hotel, says that the marine feature forms the focal point of the ground floor, and will contain a great variety of species.

“We had already begun preparing these impressive glass tanks before Patricia arrived, ensuring that they are a fully ready marine environment before the fish species are added. We are working with professional suppliers, and they know exactly what their ocean wildlife species need in order to thrive,” he says.

In addition to ensuring the marine environment is a perfect new home for the fish, Patricia will be preparing information that we shall use for those who are interested in this unique feature.

Centara Grand Phratamnak Resort Pattaya is located in the exclusive Phratamnak Hill district of Pattaya, only a few steps from the beach. The luxury hotel will have 165 rooms and suites, between 36 and 88 square metres in size, including a furnished balcony. Other amenities include a rooftop area with a restaurant – Ruffino’s Restaurant & Bar — that provides great views across Pattaya Bay.

Guests staying in designated rooms and luxury Ocean Vista suites are entitled to Club privileges, including use of the hotel’s meeting facilities and access to the Club Lounge, where five meal presentations are served daily. A selection of rooms and suites have views overlooking the ocean.

The hotel is steps away from the beach and has a beach house, which also contains the resort’s spa — Spa Cenvaree.
